PRESS RELEASE THE BRUNEI JOB FAIR 2016 OPENING CEREMONY
The Brunei Job Fair 2016, currently held at the Brunei International Defence Exhibition Centre (BRIDEX), Exhibition Halls 1 and 2, Jerudong, was launched today on the 27th November 2016. Present as the Guest of Honour for the Opening Ceremony was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO) is organising the Brunei Job Fair 2016 for three days commencing on Sunday, 27th November 2016. The theme for this year’s Job Fair is Realising employment excellence through capacity building, competency and performance.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office delivered the opening speech and then officially launched the Brunei Job Fair 2016. The Minister then witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) between Darussalam Enterprise (“DARE”) and Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation Malaysia (“SME Corp. Malaysia”). Also present to witness the signing was His Excellency Datuk Ghulam Jelani bin Khanizaman, High Commissioner of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam. Signing on behalf of DARE was its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Soon Loo while signing on behalf of SME Corp. Malaysia was its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk (Dr.) Hafsah Hashim.
The objective of this MOU is to encourage and promote cooperation in matters of policies, expertise and information sharing relating to the development of MSMEs in Malaysia and Brunei, as well as the establishment of business networking, industrial linkages and other forms of technical collaboration between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
The Opening Ceremony for the Brunei Job Fair 2016 concluded with a tour of the exhibition booths by the Guest of Honour.
The Brunei Job Fair 2016 will be offering job opportunities for a wide range of skills and qualification levels from multiple sectors such as Construction, Food and Beverage, Tourism and Hospitality, Manufacturing, Health, Transportation and Logistics, Education, Banking and Finance, Publishing, IT and Creative Industries, Retail, Services and Telecommunications. Among the activities that will take place during the event will include CV writing and Career counselling, Job Demonstrations, Walk-in Interviews, Industry Rounds Table and Entrepreneurship Focus Group sessions, Digital Literacy Program sessions and Inspirational Talk sessions which are all open job seekers and visitors in general. The Perseverance, Resilience and Success Talk sessions feature inspirational individuals who started from ‘zero’ and made it to a successful career or business, with the aim to provide inspiration and motivation to local job seekers and to show that success can be achieved with perseverance, resilience, commitment and hard work.
